Thank you Lord
for those frailites
that teach us
that it is not by our power
we get things done,
but by yours,
those moments of weakness
that show us
how much we need you,
those pauses in the struggle
that let us turn around,
like if we were walking a mountain path,
and see how far
you have brought us up
by the power of your hand.

O God,
this day
when I am frail
and weak
and indecisive
and uncertain,
and I feel so all alone,
I know
that no matter what,
I rest in your hands,
and in your hands,
I could be in no better place.

Amen.

O Lord,
I am in your hands,
this day,
voiceless,
sick,
feeling winter is winding in,
and how the cold touches me,
heart and soul.

O Lord,
Let me learn from this
and find the ability
to be a channel of your light
to warm the hearts
of others
touched by the cold,
who feel lost in the dark.

As winter moves to spring,
remind me O Lord,
that life here is but a passage,
and I,
like a winter's leaf will fall
Yet after the snow
comes the spring
of life with you.

Amen.

Prayer for Bishops

St. Thomas of Canterbury, pray for our bishops,
St. Augustine, pray for our bishops,
St. Martin of Tours, pray for our bishops,
St. Charles Borromeo, pray for our bishops.

O Blessed Mother,
spread your mantle over these, the servants of your Son,
anointed and appointed to be our shepherds here on earth.
They are under such attack from the evil one,
and being human, they often slip and fall.
Pray for them, Blessed Mother,
that they will learn true contriteness of heart,
humility of soul,
and be filled with the burning desire to shepherd the flocks of Christians in their charge.

O Jesus, meek and humble of heart,
have mercy on us,
especially on those you have appointed to guide us,
and may your voice reach into their hearts
and kindle in them the fire of divine love,
this day, and always.

Amen.
